affordable. As tradition of our innovative ideas, we make the main cable which
you can connect to many interchangeable PDA interfaces so that you can add

GPS, except Axim,

- these PDA do not have
serial ports so it is not possible to connect any GPS via cable. Therefore we
do not have interfaces for these models.
Palm
Zire71/Tungsten - The Zire71
universal seems to be slightly different from previous Palm models (M5xx) in that
the connectors (GP50/P)
we have been using for a long time could not lock into Zire71.
There was no reason form Palm to change the connector and we would suspect this
as design defect. It is also the same with a small portions of Tungstens.
Therefore we have made the interface (GPZ7/P)
with a new connector that can lock into Zire71.
While most Tungstens
can use GP50/P
with no problem, we recommend Tungstens
owners to order GPZ7/P parts
to be on the safe side. GPZ7/P
can also be used with old M5xx models but it is not as good as GP50/P.
XDA2
- GXDA is compatible.
If you bought GXDAP
before April 8
it is not compatible. But new ones you order now are compatible as we have
now modified it to be compatible with both XDA1
and XDA2. If
you bought GXDAP
before April 8
(within a package or on it own) for use with XDA1

FAQ: I
am a little confused, I have a Sony Clie NX90,
what do I need and what are my options? Basically
you need the Digitraveler
cable (GDDC)
+ interface (GST6D)
and you can buy the package GDST6
at reduced price. If
you want to power the PDA and/or Digitraveler in car, you can buy GPDST6
which include Car adapter/cable
(CKUC) to power
PDA or Digitraveler. If
you already have the car adapter (5v with 4.0/1.7 plug), you can just buy GDST6P
which does not include Car adapter/cable
(CKUC). If
you want to power BOTH Digitraveler
and PDA, you
can add PPY2,
which is a Y cable and you can feed power to both from just one power source.
If
you want to power the PDA outdoors, you can add PB4A
to GPDST6 (or
GDST6P), PB4A
use 4 x AA Batteries (rechargeable recommended) and can give you several hours
of PDA use. It can also be used with Digitraveler
too. AA rechargeable batteries is a lot more economical/convenient than AAA batteries.
External
power for Digitraveler
is indicated at 6V,
is the car adapter (5-5.5V)
or 4 x rechargeable batteries (4.8v)
enough to power Digitraveler? Yes
they are enough.
Can
I have a longer cable for Digitraveler? We
have made the cable at optimum length for most users and we do not make different
lengths. If you need longer cable, you can add one or more G25E,
or buy 2.5mm extension stereo audio cable of various lengths from your local
HI-Fi shop.
Why
are Axim, Sony Clie T/Nx/Sx, Casio, Handspring
interfaces not interchangeable with Garmin/Magellan
cable? Because
these PDAs do not have RS232 interface built in and conversions (extra
electronics) must be made before GPS (serial) can be used.
Digitraveler
works in a different way from more "conventional" GPS like Garmin/Magellan
so another special has to be made for use with Digitraveler.
Therefore special interfaces of these PDAs have to be made for use specially with
Digitraveler. To
put it simply: Garmin/Magellan
GPS transmit NMEA signal continuously once it is turned on. But Digitraveler
does not turn on by its own, nor is there a power switch. It must be turned on
by the PDA it is connected to, and running suitable applications.
We
do not make Casio/Handspringinterface
for use with Digitraveler
because of very little anticipated demand.
