If
you do not use USB sync cable in the same computer, DO NOT install Sony Desktop.
Instead, download the latest Palm Desktop from palm.com and install that. It is
better and more reliable.
After you have launched Desktop,
click the Desktop icon in the system tray (right bottom corner) and make sure
"Local Serial" is ticked.
You should
configure both the Palm and Desktop on your computer to be the same speed:
On the Palm: Prefs
> Connection > highlight
Cradle/Cable, tap Edit, > tap Details > choose
Speed:115,200 and Flow Ctl: Automatic
On
Desktop: HotSync > Setup
> Local > choose the correct com port and speed:115,200
To
hotsync: With Desktop running
on PC, Go to System folder (may be somewhere else) on your Palm, tap HotSync icon
, and then the large hotsync icon to start the sync.
The
serial speed on your computer as well as your Palm may not be in "sync" and interruption
may happen. If this happens too often, try lowering the speed (on both Desktop
and Palm). If that does not cure it you may suspect there is configuration or
hardware problem with your PC or Palm or cable.
If you
are going to install large files, avoid running other applications on your PC,
as it may interrupt the sync
, and then the large hotsync icon to start the sync.
