To use our Skype/Go!Messenger microphone/headset adapter
(PSPMA) you need
the original Sony remote Controller PSP-S140
(for PSP Slim) or PSP-140
(for PSP1000 aka phat)
This
is how you connect PSPMA
to Sony Remote Controller:
Warning: There are a lot
of fake Sony Remote Controllers around, especially in ebay. We would suggest you
buy only from local Sony dealers or from a reputable online vendor. Many game
shops and and especially street stalls are selling fake ones, knowingly or unknowingly.
So if the price is cheaper by more than 10-20% of the official ones, there is
a very big chance they are fakes. These fakes remote
controllers look exactly the same as the original, including the packaging. They
work the same too, UNTIL, that is, until you
want to use the microphone!
At the time of writing this
(March 2008), these fake remote controllers (and almost all after market, non
Sony ones) DO NOT have the microphone pin connected in the headphone jack. It
was not noticed before. Because there was no use of it, until the launch of Skype
and Go!Messenger recently! These after marker manufacturers
may have the microphone pin added in future production. When that happens then
our Skype microphone/headset adapter (PSPMA)
can be used with these non Sony remote controllers.
When
you buy a new Sony controller, make sure you ask the seller for guarantee that
it is a genuine original product. All our adapters are
fully tested and are unlikely to malfunction. If you find that the microphone
does not work, you are almost sure that you got a fake controller!
There is a simple visual inspection
to see if the microphone pin is in the controller jack. (PSP-S140)
It is just about 1mm near the top of the jack. If it is not there,
IT IS A FAKE!
If it is there, it does not mean that
it is a genuine one. It merely indicates that the microphone pin is there (but
