boasts the capability of USB host and
many do purchase on such feature. Unfortunately, due to "instability of software"
such feature is "disabled" (quote from Eten)
At
the time of writing (July 16), new Chinese
Rom Version 39 is available from Eten which makes
USB host feature useable but ONLY with an additional USB
Host Manager application.

Follow
the upgrade/install procedures EXACTLY.
After
you have installed USB Host Manager,
following procedures must be followed for it to work: 1.
Connect USB Host cable PETU2(or
cradle) - PDA is ON 2.
Connect external power (external power must be connected ALL THE TIME for USB
Host to work) 3.
Connect Flash disk (or USB Reader WITH a disk) - only device supported at present
4. Run USB
Host Manager, select ON (if it is already
ON, select OFF and then ON) - reset
! After
restart, Flash Disk appears as "ExtStorage" You
must repeat the procedure EVERY TIME after you have disconnected the cable
or power as this will turn the USB Host off
automatically.
Faq: 1. After I have inserted the Flash Disk I am asked
for a driver? This should happen only the
first time once. Follow the above procedure again. 2. I
have followed the procedure exactly, but there is no ExtStorage after it has restarted? Wait a little (can be a minute or 2), the flash disk
will light and "ExtStorage" appears on File Explorer. This
also happens every time you disconnect the flash disk or remove a disk from a
card reader. You do not have to do the USB Host procedure again but you have to
wait some time for it to reappear after you have re-inserted the disk. This is
an annoying limitation.
Tip: Although no additional
driver is necessary to use flash disk, we suggest installing Ratoc
MassStorage Driver for PPC2003 - install only usbmsc.PPC2003_ARMV4.CAB. After
you have installed it, PDA will complain that it is not the correct OS. Ignore
it and it should work. After you have installed the driver, there should
be no waiting for "ExTStorage" to appear or reappear after you have removed and
re-inserted the disk.
Note on using
PETU2:
You must connect external power to use USB Host. With PETU2
you can use either: 1. Any 5v AC adapter with 4.0/1.7 plug as supplied with
many other PDAs. Note original Eten AC adapter cannot be used as it has a smaller
plug. 2. CKUC (Car USB Adapter + USB charge
cable - PUC2) 3. Battery Extender PB4A,
if you are using it outdoors/out of car. 4. USB charge cable - PUC2
- connects to PC USB port.
