If you are buying GPS/PDA connecting cables for the first time we recommend you
consider the new style which include power for the GPS
while our old style on this page does not allow you to power the GPS (as GPS must
use batteries). Our old style has been available for a few years and we will continue
to support previous customers who wish to add/change interface cables to the ones

Our GPS
cables are unique, versatile (upgradeable) and affordable. As tradition
of our innovative ideas, we make the main cables (Garmin
E or Rtype,
Rino, Foretrex,
Magellan, Lowranceetc)
which you can connect to many interchangeable PDA and PC interfaces so that you
can add additional interfaces (or change) at low cost, as and when you change
a new PDA. Our GPS cables are compatible with most recent GPS as follow:

To connect any
of the above GPS with your PDA, you need a GPS cable and the appropriate interface
of you PDA. You can buy all parts separately,
or add any if / when you need. Below example are priced as a package which represent
big saving (about 20%) for you. For example,
if you have a Garmin eTrex
and Ipaq 39xx,
you need GEQ38($25.00).
which is a combination of GEDC($15.00)
(GPS cable) and GQ38($14.50)
(GPS Interface for Ipaq 38/39xx),
GEQ38gives
you basic connection which allows you to use mapping software on your PDA in conjunction
with your eTrex. You can also transfer data (waypoints
etc) between your PDA and eTrex with appropriate software.
While your
GPS may run happily for hours (10 or more), your PDA cannot run very long with
its pwn battery (2-3 hours the most). If you are planning to use it for more than
2-3 hours you need to connect external power to you PDA. We provide a combo GPS
interface with power input for this purpose. Combo interface for Ipaq 39xx is
GQ38P ($19.50)
(Combo Interface are with "P" suffix). So
you need GEQ38P ($30.00)
for connecting your eTrex.
The power input for our Combo GPS interface is universal
4.0/1.7 socket.
Many PDAs use this plug with their power supply or car adapter so you may already
have it without having to buy extra (they are usually 5v or thereabout and should
be compatible with almost all PDA).
If you do
not yet have the power supply you can get GPEQ38
- in addition to GEDC
+ GQ38P, you
also get CK203 ($10.95)
(car USB adapter) and PUC2($6.95)
(USB charge cable). PUC2
plugs into the car adapter CK203
and the power input of GQ38P
so you can power your PDA continuously in car.
Our GPS cables do not allow you to
power your Handheld GPS, which must use batteries. While there is a need to provide
external power for PDA we do not consider it a necessity for GPS as rechargeables
batteries are handy and can run many hours with just one set. If you do need continuous
power for your GPS you have to buy a combo PC serial interface for your GPS from
original GPS supplier and connect with a PDA serial/GPS
interface or option here.
If
you plan to use your PDA/GPS out of car you can get a battery extender PB4A,
which allows you to power your PDA with AA batteries. So you can add PB4A
to GPEQ38 so that you
can also use it outdoors. If you do not need to use it in car, or you already
have the appropriate car adapter/cable, you can just get GEQ38P
+ PB4A. PB4A connects
and power the PDA through GQ38P, whether you are using the GPS cable or not.

If you want to connect your GPS to PC, you can

which is a combination of GEDC
and G9SF ($9.00)
(PC serial interface).
If you have
more than one GPS and/or PDA, or if you are buying a new one, you can just add
the appropriate GPS cable or interface without having to buy the whole set. Example,
if you have a eTrex,
a Magellan SporTrak,
a Palm M505 and
an T-Mobile/XDA,
you can buy just 2 sets of cables: GEP50($23.75),
GMXDA($26.00),
that allows you to connect eTrex/Palm
505, or eTrex/XDA,
or SporTrak/Palm505,
or SporTrak/XDA.
If
you have a GPS other than the ones we have listed, you could connect to your PDA
if you have the GPS serial cable by connecting to the PDA
Serial/GPS Interface.
Some
GPS interfaces are compatible with many models. GQ38
is compatible with Ipaq22xx,
38/39xx, 41xx, 54/55xx. Please see the compatible
list at the bottom of the GPS page to find whether your PDA is listed before asking.
